IF YOUR FURNACE QUITS WORKING, CHECK THESE ITEMS FIRST:
- Make sure the breaker is not tripped. Tripped breakers are generally in “mid” position. To test, turn the breaker off, then back on.
- NOTE: Reset a breaker ONLY once! If it trips again, something is seriously wrong and you need professional help!
- Check your thermostat. Verify it is in the correct heat or cool mode for your needs. Also make sure temperature set-point is correct.
- Check your air filter(s). Plugged filters can cause a safety lockout. If filters are plugged, replace them. Then, shut the unit power off for a few seconds and restart the unit.
- If the above tips don’t work, you need professional help. Call Silver Fox at (602) 745-8375.

IF YOUR AIR CONDITIONER QUITS WORKING, CHECK THESE ITEMS:
- Follow the same four steps listed above for furnace problems, plus:
- Check breaker or disconnect at the outdoor unit. If it is tripped, reset it only once.
- Listen to the outdoor unit. If you can hear it is running but no cold air is coming out of your ducts, turn the unit off at once before it damages itself, and call for service.
- Check the outdoor coil. If it is plugged with dirt, shut system down and clean the coil with a water hose. Restart the system when done.
- If outdoor unit is running, but the outdoor fan is not turning, turn unit off immediately and call for service.
- Warning: Forcing an A/C unit to run when it is not working properly can damage the unit. If it is not working properly, DON'T WAIT--SHUT IT DOWN AND CALL 602-745-8375 FOR SERVICE!

Hot Stuff
When possible, delay heat-generating appliances such as dishwashers, dryers, vacuums, and other major appliances until evening on hot days.

Evening Breezes Only
Keep windows closed during the day. This sounds simple, but many people forget to close the windows in the morning, thereby letting hot air into the house during the day. If you keep windows open at all, be sure to have proper security to deter theft. An open window is an open invitation.

Going, Going, Gone
Most people believe that if they are only going to be gone for an hour or two, it is more cost-effective to leave the air conditioner running. Generally speaking this is true in Arizona . However; the rule of thumb is that it is better to leave your air conditioner on by raising the temp on your thermostat 5 degrees if you are leaving the house for more than 1 hour.

The Secret Weapon
Use ceiling fans to circulate air when using higher thermostat settings for a cool, comfortable feeling while saving energy. Ceiling fans can cost less than $30 at your local hardware store, and are generally far more effective than using the air conditioner. Combine the fans with a higher thermostat setting for optimum comfort and savings. Call us and we'll help you determine where the most efficient locations will be in your home or office.
